Nature photo contest will be part of Earth Day;
first-place winner will receive $100 and a trophy

There are two divisions, one for any current university student and one for any current university employee.

An employee who also happens to be a student MUST enter the employee division only.

Entries will consist of either an 8 by 10 or an 8 by 12 photo mounted or matted on an 11- by 14-inch black board. The photos may be of landscapes, flowers, animals or anything that would be considered nature.

People may be present in the photos ONLY if they are a negligible part of the photo, such as a person in the distance looking at a waterfall. A person should NOT be the major focus of any entry.

Photos should have been taken in either 2017 or 2018.

The Campbellsville University Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists reserves the right to disqualify any entry it considers in poor taste or that does not meet the contest rules.

The name of the person entering the contest should not be on the photo or the front of the board to which it is mounted or matted. The name and contact information should be on the back of the entry.

Individuals may enter up to five photos.

Any adjustments made in Photoshop or any other imaging software should be minimal.

The photos must be the original work of the person entering the contest.

All photos must be dropped off at Stan McKinney’s office, Carter Hall 207A, before April 23. Entries will be accepted at the Turner Log Cabin no later than 9 a.m. on April 23, Earth Day.

Entries will be on display at the Turner Log Cabin until 3 p.m.

Judging will take place between 9 and 10 a.m.

Winners will be announced immediately after Earth Day festivities near the cabin. Entries may be picked up at McKinney’s office on and after April 24.

There will be three awards in each division.

First place will receive $100 and a trophy.

Second place will receive $50, and third place will receive $25.
